Did you know that garden designers are an odd breed? And yes I am talking about myself here. They have to have the logical, left brained, problem solvers and possess the creative flair to provide an inspirational scheme. Garden design is the art of providing a beautiful space that works for its custodians.
What happens if you don’t get this mix right?
Logical, dominant left brained people will think about where to put the patio, the shed and the path in between. The garden may be beautifully hard landscaped but may be lacking in flow, interest and colour.
Creative right brained people will be those that love perusing garden centers and nurseries. They may be tempted to fill their garden with the plants they fancy at the point they are in their element. The planting scheme can be sporadic with flowers for one season.
If you can find a blend of the two, you can get a vision of how to evolve you garden with a plan. Get the right plants, for the right spaces, create a layout that doesn’t just take you from A to B but give you a flow that entices your brain into the garden.
One of the signs for me that I should become a garden designer was that I love to walk through a garden in my mind. I can dream and visualise the entity and then put it onto paper.
What is the vision for your garden? If you need help get in touch with a garden designer, who understands your styles and requirements, to bring it to life. This is why you would get a garden designer.
